Join MemoriesHemant Patel My dad (Jag - Pragna's older brother) was introduced to music by Wijay. My dad says he has very fond memories of playing music on Sunday morning at Reeves Avenue (the flat my father shared shared with Vijay Fua and my mother (Urvashi). The amp he used is still working and we have a lot of the records too. Like Vijay Fua these things are timeless. My mum also added how he would toasted banana sandwiches on those Sunday mornings (all ingredients sourced from his beloved Safeways)
Vijay was a very warm person. People found it very easy to talk to him. My side of the family members remember Vijay very fondly and remember having lovely conversations with him He mixed with everyone regardless of what age they were. He was very kind and generous person. He helped me bring the shopping home from Safeway’s when I was working a...
Masa I will always remember my first ever job at Safeway (now Morrisons) in Russell Square. You were instrumental in giving me an invaluable start in my working life. I still remember my first day at work wearing my Safeway uniform - I was so happy and proud to be starting my working life. Thank you so much for everything.
Nilay Patel Thank you Wijaymasa for lovely memories I will always cherish. There are so many but the my fondest is watching 1996 Cricket world cup final with you and celebrating a well deserved Sri Lanka win. Will miss you. You are in a very safe and peaceful place now. Rest In Peace Masa. Lots of love from Kumudben, Nilay, Binal, Dev and Dylan.
Another very important milestone in my life was buying a car. Many of you would know that Masa always bought his cars at the auction. I was lucky enough to experience a day with Masa at the British Car auction in Camberley in Surrey. I managed to pick up a great car that lasted me a very long time. That was a start of my love with cars so I ende...
Nilay Patel It was great to celebrate Hemali and Jai's wedding. Thank you Masa for giving me such wonderful memories.

Hemant Patel Fua was never happier than with his grand kids.
Absolutely devastated that my mother’s brother and my beloved, handsome, caring, wonderful uncle passed away after bravely battling against Covid19. I have so many fond memories I would like to share with everyone but I’ve selected my favourite two (see photos): 1. of him celebrating my gradation from medical school 2. of him as my witness at my w...
Hemant Patel Fua's 65th
Lochani Hartley About to sign as a witness at my wedding
I will always remember the days Fua had off work fondly. Namely Thursday and Sundays. Both were known to me as lunghi days. They would invariably involve chickpeas, bookies, fixing something on the car/garden (making it worse), McDonalds and/or Chinesse for us kids, fixing the dodgy cable box & Foi shouting him to get off the sofa at least 10 time...
Hemant Patel Christmas @ the Dharmasenas. Vijay Fua playing poker and checking everyone was fed and watered.
Hemant Patel Fua's 65th Birthday - He was a great, gracious, attentive host. Your glass was never less than 3/4 full. He was the epitome of bonhomie.
I got a new role at Lloyd's of London yesterday and I dedicate this to Fua who could always tell if I was lying or not (I think he picked up this skill from shoplifters at Safeway). He tired to teach me that it doesn't pay to lie, cheat or steal as you will always get caught out in the end. I didn't really listen until I was too old to change h...
