We look back on the TV series Scrubs on the anniversary of its debut on the 2nd October, 2001. The show follows the life of Dr. John Dorian from his first year as an intern up to his time as an attending physician at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Mary Carr J.D., Turk, and Elliot begin work as interns at the Sacred Heart Hospital. Turk and Carla have their first date. J.D. and Elliot hook up, date, and break up. The show won Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Director for a Comedy Series at the Emmy Awards.

Mary Carr J.D. and Elliot become Co-Chief Resident doctors. Dr. Cox and Jordan find out that their divorce from years ago isn’t valid, so they make it official.
Mary Carr J.D. moves out of the apartment he shared with Turk and Carla.
Mary Carr J.D. is now an attending physician, while Elliot moves into private practice (but ends up moving back to Sacred Heart). Scrubs airs their musical episode, “My Way Home,” which is an homage to Wizard of Oz.
Mary Carr J.D. dates Kim and finds out later on that he got her pregnant.
Mary Carr Jordan gives birth to her and Dr. Cox’s second child. J.D. is able to convince her to name the daughter Jennifer Dylan.
Mary Carr Keith Dudemeister proposes to Elliot and J.D. gets back together with Kim. J.D. and Elliot share some of their uncertainties about their respective relationships and almost kiss.
Mary Carr Carla gives birth to her and Turk’s first daughter, Isabela. Dr. Kelso opens a Coffee Bucks in Sacred Heart to earn money. Nurse Lavern Roberts gets into an accident and falls into a coma. She eventually dies.
Mary Carr Elliot calls off her wedding with Keith.
Mary Carr Dr. Kelso retires as the Chief of Medicine of Sacred Heart Hospital.
Mary Carr Sam Perry Gilligan Dorian is born and J.D. is committed to stay in a relationship with Kim, even if she works and lives far from him.
Mary Carr The last episode of Scrubs shows J.D. working his last day at Sacred Heart.

The Janitor invites the gang to his wedding in the Bahamas. J.D. and Elliot get back together. Turk becomes the new Chief of Surgery. J.D. decide to move closer to where his son Sam lives and gets offered a job at Kim’s hospital. The last episode of Scrubs shows J.D. working his last day at Sacred Heart.

The show would often have guests like Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, Christa Miller (who played Jordan and is Bill Lawrence’s wife), John C. McGinley, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and Neil Flynn.
