Teresa Kerr Sandy was Opening Ceremony speaker for Relay For Life of the SCV in 2019. Despite her own battle, she was funny, uplifting, and one of our best opening speakers ever. She, and her quick wit, will be missed by us all.

Teresa Kerr From Janine Jones, Chair of the SCV ACS Council: The American Cancer Society lost a hero and warrior on Thursday; our Sandy Ends lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on July 2nd. We are morning the loss of our friend and ACS advocate of 22 years. Sandy was a breast cancer survivor, which launched her into ACS volunteerism 22 years ago. Her drive and determination to help those suffering with cancer convinced her to become a Reach to Recovery leader. She made herself 100% available to those who needed her advice and support through their own cancer diagnosis from beginning to end of treatment; always adding her cheerful attitude and incredible quick wit to lighten the mood and one's spirit. She later became the National Trainer of New Volunteers for the Reach to Recovery program. Sandy was an incredibly strong leader of our local American Cancer Society. She, and her husband, Steve, were involved in Relay For Life fundraising by joining several teams over the years, Sandy also held many roles as a Leadership Council member; such as, Mission Lead, were she attended countless health fairs in the SCV giving out brochures on the many services ACS offered. She was also a lead player in organizing the first CARE SCV Resource Expo, and helped at the SCV Cancer Coalition over the years. She was involved with Bark for Life, the holiday boutique, and later become the Chair of the ACS Leadership Council from 2017-2019. Sandy was a devoted, loving, and loyal friend to me, as well as, the many ACS Leadership Council members, ELT members, and volunteers in our community. We are deeply saddened by her passing, and we will miss our fabulously funny friend until we see her again in heaven. Please keep her husband, Steve, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. No info on services yet. We love you, Sandy, and thank you, for your selfless service to the American Cancer Society and the many lives that you have helped over the past 22 years

Cass Stauffer My heart aches for your loss. You are a true fighter! I’m going to miss your humor. Your delivery would make everything seem okay even when life was not ok. You made it okay to laugh when times were hard. You made it okay to feel and cry and laugh sometimes all at the same time. Sometimes at your own expense. But your goal was to lift spirits and I had the honor to witness time after time. You knew I could always be myself and you appreciated that I didn’t hold back even though you were always just a step ahead. I could go on. But what I’m trying to say is I have lost another dear friend who was just as passionate about helping people and kicking cancers butt as I am. I love you and i love Steve. I am already missing you so much it really hurts. I love you.

Maria Falasca Some of my memories of Sandy. I am at a loss for words at this time. 22 years my busom buddy at every Relay. Met at Choose Hope support group with Heather. She was an idol to me. My family and I send our condolences to Steve their families and friends. Rip my friend, without pain or worries. 😘

I was so sorry to hear of Sandy's passing. Words that I would use to describe Sandy would be that she was a very positive person, she always told it like it was, she was dedicated in the fight against cancer, and she will be missed.
