JC Hancock In 2014, we rented a house in Umbria, Italy about 20 minutes drive from the nearest village.
JC Hancock My dad came to stay with me and Maya in November. We had our first Halloween together.
Shaun Roberts What will be missed most is John's kind and thoughtful assistance to all his colleagues and students. He was a gentlemen, a scholar and a true humanitarian in all his dealings with people and situations. We will always remember Docs insight into refractories, forward thinking in his laboratory experiments and his big heart to all those who wanted to learn more about his passion. We extend our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to John's wife and family. He will be missed dearly by all of us at CHB.

We were deeply saddened by the news of Dr John Hancock passing. Our deepest condolences to the Hancock family. Dr John Hancock always had an answer to any Refratory uncertainty we had. As a friend he would patiently answer and explain all questions. One of my favourite memories of John is him "playing" in his laboratory with refractory material. Th...
John will be dearly missed. I first met him in the early 1990s. He was the one person who managed to lift the vail on the black art which is refractories. The world has just lost more than half of it’s knowledge on refractories. Rest in peace dear friend, and strength to his loved ones. Barry de Klerk
