Ian McEwan Dick I and drifted apart over the last few years but I will always remember his coaching and his friendship. To Juliet and the boys, I wanted this "Book of Condolence" to celebrate the "Work" life of Dick Collecting stories and memories here will offer us all a way to share our memories with you.
So sorry to hear of the sad passing of Dick Cahill. Dick was a highly effective and charismatic leader and will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing or working for him.
When Dick expressed the desire to join Remedy and move to England we went to London to explore. What a great time with Juliet and Dick. What an amazingly funny guy he was. Employee appreciation in EMEA was always a treat. The last round of golf I played was with Dick in China and he played great as always. He will be missed by family and friends a...
I worked for Dick from 2001-2, during this period I learned what a great leader and mentor he was. I spoke with him recently and it was so lovely to catch up with him. Such a lovely warm kind hearted man. RIP.
Dick was always upbeat, even if the news he was sharing was not that good. He made you laugh with his New England accent and made you cry every time you went golfing with him and realized how good he really was. He was a true pro in everything he did and I know his greatest pride was his family. He was always talking about his kids. When he move...
This is so sad to hear. Rest in peace Dick. When I first joined Remedy back in 2003, I had the pleasure of working for this great leader. My enduring memory of him was him approaching me as I was putting collateral together to send to a prospect. Dick came right up to me, put his arm around my shoulder and told me he’d heard I was doing a great job...
Working with Dick was a joy. His laugh, his view on life, his fantastic positive attitude... So many good things to say. I'm so sorry he has gone. I am so sorry for those even closer to him than I. What a great loss for us all.
Dick was a great leader with a kind heart and always ready to listen to anybody who needed to talk. A good man. All my very best to Dick's family. Caroline
Dick was a natural and inspirational leader and a genuine, kind and supportive man. He was also a devoted family man and all our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time
I had the pleasure of working with Dick for years and reporting to him for several. He was a great leader and friend to work with. Always there for advice and counsel. Always there with humor when needed. Always there to buy a drink when needed even more... We'll miss you Dick. Juliet and family, heartfelt condolences.
I am saddened to hear of the passing of Dick. He was a a very inspirational leader, coach and supportive friend. My thoughts are with Juliet and the boys at this very difficult time.
Dick was an inspirational leader, the sort of guy you'd follow willingly. He always had a smile, he always asked after my family, he knew how to get the best from everyone and he took no BS. I hope that reading these messages brings some comfort to Dick's family at this difficult time, to know that he was loved by so many.
Dick's smile and character were like a gas: they expanded to fill any space available. He epitomised the positive spirit that made Remedy such a great place, and my deepest condolences go to the family that he loved so much.
Dick was the happiest, chipper colleague!!! He was a great family man and we all loved working with him. Heart felt condolences to Juliett and boys. So sad to hear about his passing!
So incredibly sad to hear of Dick’s passing… My thoughts and best wishes are with his family. Dick taught me the difference between Management and Leadership. He excelled at encouraging and enabling others to excel. He was a force of nature. A tidal wave of pragmatism, charisma and business acumen. Many have benefited from being swept along by his...
A special and inspirational leader. He will be greatly missed. Condolences to Juliet and the boys. Angela Jeen
DC Quote: "They need to be sent back to the school of 'get it', they just don't get it !!" followed by roars of laughter from his office. Great days....RIP Dick.
Many happy memories working with Dick. A true leader, walking the floor every morning making sure everyone was ok. Driving his golf buggy into the sales kickoff meeting, playing golf in Arizona. RIP Mr Cahill.
Charismatic Leader...thank you
I am so sorry to hear that Dick has passed. Dick was a fine leader, many benefited from his advice. During tricky business times his vision and humour saw us through, and in good times he was simply great to work for. Dick cared about people, often asking how things were going and genuinely interested in the response. My thoughts are with the Cahil...
I worked with Dick at Remedy and our paths crossed numerous times since then although, sadly, I'd not seen him for quite some time. I've always been attracted to larger than life, positive characters and Dick was at the top of that list. I always enjoyed Dick's company and had huge respect for him as a consummate professional, a loyal friend and...
Very sad news to hear about Dick no longer being with us. But great memories working with him during the Remedy & BMC days. Golf was always a keen topic of discussion. I had many an enjoyable round with Dick on the golf course. I think one of them was on Blue Monster at Doral where Dick hosted the Remedy kick off - a major golf resort was the locat...
I have many fond memories of working with Dick at Remedy but one of my favourites is the Remedy Kick Off in Boston where the marketing team filmed Dick “running” the Boston Marathon and beating the competition. Watching him tie the shoe laces of our competitors and stop to eat doughnuts spoke to his incredible sense of humour. By the time he ran i...
Sad to have learned about Dick's passing. Will cherish the time that our professional paths crossed at Remedy and was always cautious about having any golf bets that Dick made on the course!!
I would like to Express my sincere condolences to the family.
I was allowed to spend so many wonderful hours, days and weeks with Dick. He was a person of different qualities. It was an enrichment to go the same way with him for a while. Goodbye my friend.
There are so many things I want to say about what Dick meant and still means to me but right now I'm lost for words
So desperately sorry to hear this news. It’s been a while since we both worked for Dic but we have very fond memories of doing so. That guy could certainly play golf too! RIP Dick. Regards john and Tracey Goodall.
Dick and I worked together at Remedy from 1999 to 2001 until we were acquired by Peregrine. Remedy was a family and Dick was a bit of a father to everyone. He was part of the Emea leadership team building our Professional Services. He was full of energy, full of passion, with communicative enthusiasm. He inspired lots of people. He was a wonderful...
What a joy it was to work with Dick and what a tragedy to learn of his passing. I worked with Dick at Remedy/Peregrine/BMC from 1998 -2005. We worked together through the craziness of takeovers and corporate divorces and more takeovers. During these challenges I saw what an exceptional businessman Dick was. Yet far more impressive was his human...
Dick was so wonderful and fun to work with during our time at Remedy. An inspirational leader who believed in giving everyone a chance. With a passion for golf (often putting balls in the office) Dick was a true family man with a constant smile on his face.
There are few leaders I've come across in my professional career that had the impact that Dick Cahill had on me. I remember being a very young, inexperienced manager at Remedy and hearing about this larger-than-life figure running EMEA. Dick was Boston through-and-through - direct, fiery, and demanding. You always wanted him in your corner, and ...
I am deeply saddened by the news of Dick’s passing. I am honored and blessed to have known Dick and to have worked under his leadership at Remedy/Peregrine/BMC. I will never forget his kindness and his great humor. Someone so special can never be forgotten. My deepest and most sincere condolences goes out to his family at this difficult time.
Lots of fun memories of my time working for Dick, life’s all about making memories and he contributed to a lot of peoples memories.X
Jon Rendle Truly sad to hear of the passing of Dick. Whilst we hadn't seen each other for some time I always look back on our relationship and numerous holidays together with fond memories. Dick was an amazing friend and mentor who gave many people, myself included, an amazing start in life. You will be missed by many. Rest in peace.
Despite the years, I keep a very clear memory of the tight relationship Dick and I had and how we teamed to make Remedy a great place. His confidence and trust in people were unique and he was a great mentor and raw model to all. I still see his big smile and feel the hugs we used to have. He was more than a colleague, more than a friend, like a br...
I was part of Dick´ s team at Remedy and just remember that he was a very nice and great leader. I am very sorry to hear that he passed away! RIP
I was very sad to hear about the passing of Dick Cahill. I entered the IT industry in 1997 and Dick was someone who made a significant impact in the early part of my career when I was finding my feet. His business leadership, support and kindness left a lasting impression - along with his passion for golf and I was also fortunate to spend time wi...
Dick was a friend, a mentor and a fantastic boss to me, with so many great qualities that you inevitably start to measure others with the same yardstick. His creativity, emotional intelligence and authenticity along with the gentlemanly way that he went about his business and personal life will always stay with me. Although profoundly sad to see hi...
Dick was a truly inspiring individual. I remember clearly the first time he spoke to us as a company, asking everyone "who here is in Sales?" When only a few responded, he pronounced with great joy that we all are, and that mantra has stuck with me since. His leadership and great humour will be greatly missed.
Really hard to lose such a leader, friend and mentor to so many people.
It's taken me a couple of days to get to this page, after being completely stunned when i first heard the news thinking, "No, it can't be Dick, he's one of the really good ones". Reading these messages reinforces my 3 strongest memories of Dick, 1) his 'presence' - you always knew when Dick was in the building, there was an added layer of positi...
Dick's mix of humor and leadership will always be apart of us. It's too soon for you to be leaving us. My warmest thoughts and wishes go out to Dick's family and community. RIP
Dick was a truly one of the most wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure of working with and meeting. He was so supportive and cared for everyone that worked with him. I will miss his wonderful sense of humour and vigour, he always saw the positive and always wanted to help in anyway he could. I will always be grateful for his support and gui...
Dick was a great guy and an effervescent leader. He was fun to work for and motivated all around him in a great way. I am a terrible golfer but the best and funniest round I ever played was when Ian and I took on Dick and Jon in handicapped skins in Dubai. Ian and I played much higher than our negotiated handicap and won - the banter was hilarious...
Sad to hear this news. We had great times at Remedy. Dick's personality had such a positive impact on everyone. A great leader.
Dick was a wonderful friend and leader. He had a real gift for talking about what things were "really about". I don't think I ever saw him without a smile, even when times were tough. He will be dearly missed.
Dick was great leader and a friend. I will miss his guidance but more importantly, I will miss our Boston-Toronto sports banter. Condolence to the Cahill family
It struck me hard today when I saw the post about Dick’s passing. I had the privilege of working in his organization back at Remedy EMEA. He was such a kind and fun person. I would simply feel at ease being around him. Last time I saw him was in 2015. Nonetheless, he was one of the rare people you meet at some point in your life and they just stay ...
I had the pleasure of working with Dick for over 4 years at Kronos. I had my interview with him at the Starbucks in Ascot and hit it off from there. He was a wonderful, humble man and a great leader, mentor and turned into a good friend. We travelled the world together, working hard and having fun - lots of great memories. A real family man with J...
I was devastated to hear of Dick’s passing. My enduring memory of my time working with him was his absolute loyalty to his team and colleagues. I had the pleasure of working with him at Kronos in the glory days of International and we had great fun as a group in many time zones. One of the most fun was driving the hired battle bus in Florida actin...
Dick was more than a colleague, he was a friend and a confidant. He was an inspirational leader, a great mentor and a true gent. You will be missed by many Dick and I am truly honored to have worked by your side.
I cannot believe this is happening: Dick is an inspiration for me to join Concentra and an influencer. He is also Boston to me, I miss his guidance, wisdom, patience, and experience. The mentor of a very rare kind and I am grateful for the opportunity to work under his guidance. No words can describe how sad in magnitude this loss is...
I've only known Dick for a short time but he's left a long lasting impression. His warm approach, genuine interest and the endless knowledge he seemed to draw on meant that every conversation was a great one. I feel privileged to have worked with Dick. My heartfelt condolences to all his family.
Dick was more than just a colleague in the office, he had the ability to make me feel very much included and I always felt great deal of genuine care and support. He was a very special person - great leader with so much positive energy. My heart goes out to his family. I send them support, strength and love in this difficult time.
Dick was great leader and a friend. I will miss his positive attitude and energy. He constantly emphasised the importance of family and being intentional about the time you spend with your children. He has had a great influence on how I approach both my work and home life. My deepest condolences to the Cahill family.
I worked with Dick directly at Remedy for years and there are too many memories to list but he was always kind and generous. He was funny and had a great sense if humour, even when the chips were down, he was laughing and positive. He gave me the lift I needed to excel in my professional life and did this for many others too. My heart is broken f...
What a family Remedy truly was with Dick holding one of the key parts. A truly inspirational and caring leader, what a shock, so sorry to hear this sad news. Dick will be truly missed. My heart goes out to his family. xxxx
Dick was my VP and GM at Vignette. We hadn’t seen each other since 2009 but exchanged emails every so often and I still think of him very fondly. He was a lovely, warm man with a fab sense of humour and so devoted to Juliet and his boys. In my last email exchange with Dick I’d asked if he had any freelance work going at his then employer’s. He didn...
Marissa London All my love to Dick’s family. Whilst Dick gave everything to work, he gave impossibly more to his family. He was their rock and no matter where they were in the world pursuing their dreams which he was so immensely proud of you all - Dubai, Atlanta - home was always them all together. He was one of my most favourite people to work with in my career. When I came to interview with Dick I considered it more of a ‘fact finding’ mission and was just sending out feelers of opportunity to leave my consulting business and join a full time opportunity. In true impeccable sales form he closed me that day. Never seen anything like it and made him someone I really wanted to be close to and learn from and much I did. Not only did he make work an incredibly rich experience through his friendship and guidance, he made it fun. This was my favourite picture of him and all about Rup’s fish obsession. Work aside, he was so proud of his boys and I’m really lucky to have met a few - he loved you all so much. Devastated to hear of his passing - he was so determined to beat anything. You should all he so proud and the world is sorely a worse place without. To carry on his memory I’m now a grumpy old man who gets to work earlier than everyone - and all the better for it. Much love in this hard time and please let me know if I can do anything xx
I had the pleasure to work with Dick during my Kronos days and now at the Concentra team. Dick was not only very passionate about business but also about building great relationships and having fun together. He was a great listener and really took. Dick was also very proud of his family! I will never forget Dick. I wish you lots of strength in this...
Dick was the best. I worked with him for over 30 yrs. He was such a great guy kind, funny and smart. I will miss him. Condolences to his wonderful family. He loved you to the moon and back.
Shocked & saddened to hear of Dick’s untimely passing. A positive person to work with & good fun. Best wishes to his family & friends
Really sad news. I was lucky enough to have Dick in my professional/personal life for a few great years - including some memorable trips and family time. He surely was one of the great ones in the software business and a terrific leader and friend. I will still smile every time I think of that "wicked" grin of his. Heartfelt condolences to Juil...
On occasion you may find a business leader that talks about the balance between life, work and above all family. With Dick I had the pleasure of working with a leader that actually lived it. That was a privilege. My deepest condolences to the Cahill family.
I only worked with Dick very briefly but was struck by his honesty, integrity and great humour. A lovely man. Best wishes, Dom
