Join MemoriesDavid Price A lovely photo of Alison who always enjoyed a social occasion. This one taken at the Medieval Night in Castle Eaton. She was tireless in her support for village community activities. She will be very sorely missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know her over the years. David & Pauline.
Matt Tinsley Mum always had a certain fondness for the weird and wacky. She sent me this photo not long after she moved to Cricklade, titled "meeting the neighbours".
Matt Tinsley This photo was taken at a leaving-do for Alex and Tia before they went on their big bike adventure around Asia, before completing their move to the US. It has always been a personal favourite of mine - Mum watching on smiling as her two boys act like complete clowns.
Matt Tinsley Back in October 2015, Mum and I spent a long weekend in Florence. It was somewhere that Mum had never visited and we had a great few days exploring and eating well, with our day-trip to Sienna being the highlight. We spent most of the weekend trying to avoid the rain, and one consequence of that is a lack of good photos, but I like this one.
Alex Tinsley Mum welcoming her new daughter in law to the family at the Shawnee Inn on the Delaware River Weddings turn out to be busy times filled with little moments which might be too easily forgotten, so I'm glad this one was captured.
Alex Tinsley Shortly before Lucas was born, Tia and I made our last trip for several years to Europe. While we were there, we drove down with Mum to Lyme Regis on the south coast of England, which is somewhere we'd visited multiple times during my childhood. The first thing we did when we arrived on a bright and sunny June day was walk out onto the cob (harbor wall) which still held onto some of the same magical sense of permanence that it did when I was very young.
So sorry to hear this news, that I have just found out. Alison was one of my best supporters when I started teaching fused glass and came to several sessions. She even kindly took it on herself to promote my glass, often sending customers in my direction who had seen her window display! She was a true Cricklade character and will be much missed.
Alex Tinsley Mum made the trip over to the US to meet her first grand-child (my oldest son) Lucas. During that trip, Lucas (finally!) started crawling at the age of 9 month and I'm happy she was able to be there for what seemed like a really big milestone at the time. Family walks in our neighborhood are a part of our daily routine here, and Mum and Lucas were both happy to be out and about in this picture.
Dawn Saunders Alison was such a big part of village life here; she was the champion seller of ducks for the fete duck race & always one of the first on to the dance floor at any gathering - such fun times... You are missed Alison, be at peace now. Les & Dawn
I knew Alison for many years as I was the local authority adviser to South Marston Primary School where she worked for in the school office. It was delightful when she moved to Cricklade and became an enthusiastic member of our community. This including joining in with our annual summer festival and helping Cricklade Bloomers with the plant display...
It was lovely to have Alison as a neighbour and we will miss her. It was obvious she cared greatly for the community and actively campaigned to preserve Cricklade. We have some fond memories from seeing her enjoying dressing up and enjoying the Cricklade Festival and her joining us in the Red Lion of an evening either on Wednesdays at bell ringing...
Alison lived next door to us for the last 6 years, she was a good neighbour and we were very fond of her. As well as doing things together in the community we chatted daily over the garden fence looking out for each other, putting the world to rights and sharing gardening tips and plants, she loved her garden. Over the years we've shared retirement...
Pauline Marsden Alison was a real character, always there when you needed a friend, often invited me to the red lion or cricklade club when they had live music on. I will miss her and her lovley hanging baskets and pots at her front door also Jasper her cat. She will be dearly missed xx
We will remember Alison as an interesting and very creative lady who enjoyed putting her many talents to good and practical use. She was an excellent and welcome neighbor who liked to live her life to the full and was always keen to get involved in Cricklade’s various community issues. It was lovely to see her so hugely proud and happy at the bir...
Such a lovely lady. Very helpful during her time at South Marston primary school. My boys have fond memories of her. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time. ❤️
I was so very sad to hear that Alison has passed away. I only spoke to her at the beginning of May, so this has come as a shock. We worked together in the office at South Marston School from 2003 until she retired and have remained friends. Alison taught me a lot in my early days when I was new to school admin. She was a lovely lady and we shared m...
I was sad to hear that Alison has passed away. I had the pleasure of working with her for 5 years at South Marston School. Before that my 2 eldest children were at the School with her, they have fond memories of Alison. Our thoughts are with her family.
Jon Wigmore Alison was such a great auntie, closer to me in age than my parents and always ready to provide food, hospitality and shelter when I randomly landed at Castle Eaton as I did very happily over the years. More like a big sister than an auntie. Years later when our little brother went, closely followed by our mum at the end of 2018, Alison made huge efforts to get up to Newcastle to support us as a family which we massively appreciated. Alison was one of the few people that had a great rapport with our tricky mum! She was someone that thoughtfully, quietly and kindly just got things done for other people. I’m so sorry that health problems got in the way of the long and fulfilling retirement that she deserved. But also glad to know that she was able to enjoy the love and achievements of her boys whose send-off was so personal and tender despite the circumstances created by the pandemic.
